Master bath 2

What do you think? Rob did a nice job didn't he?

Master bath

A nice coat of paint, new bath and countertops can do wonders for a 70's bathroom.

Master window

We felt sorry for covering up all of the nice blue paint in this room so we decided to honor the blue with our better-blue curtains. We have matching bedding that we want to wait to put on the bed when we get our cowboy bed frame.

Master

We are awaiting our dream bed! We found it at Haggard's country in a trader's village here in houston. It is made of a rustic type wood. We may even have rusted horse shoes and stars posted to the bed frame?!

Calem's room

We haven't done much to the room. We are waiting ont the crib and my mom for inspiration. We hope to use this gardening apparatus in the corner as a changing table. No sense in buying all new stuff when you can find good deals at garage sales.

Guest bath

What more could you ask for in a guest bathroom? New shower, new throne, new countertops, and a fresh coat of paint for the cabinets!

guest/office 2

We will have curtains before guests rest here peacefully!

Guest/office

This is pretty much what you get. A bed, desk, night stand, and dresser.

Living room view 2

Here is the rest of the living room. We got a great deal on the couch and love seat that Rob is LOVING right about now. See the retired couch (texas tech folding chairs) by the back door?

Living room with couches!

The paneling has been painted and they look much better. As you can see, we are having decoration brain farts at this moment. We cannot figure out the best way to position the couches.

Kitchen Remodeled 3

Here you can see the nice wall texturea and how the colors go so well with the tile and countertops.

Kitchen Remodeled 2

Here you can see the oven has been repainted to look like it belongs in this century.

Kitchen Remodeled

The walls, backsplash, floors, and countertops have all been updated!

Here you can see how the counters, tile, wall color, cabinets, and back splash really go together really well.

Calem's room. Mom, take a good look and get ready to help me get ready for our little blessing to occupy our world.

Look at this art work the tile guy is adding to each door entry way. This will add to the southwest-cowboy-Texas theme we are going for. Rob and I found the store that has everything we want to use to decorate the house. We really like the raw wood and steel look. Pretty typical of a Texas Ranch house.

Here is the guest room. Pretty much the same all over the house, but a much better look.

This is the living room. You can really see how the tile compliments the walls. Much better than the paneling don't you think?

This is the kitchen with new venetian style walls, painted chair rail, brick-laid tile, and new coutertops. The colors have really come together nicely. Rob did a great job choosing all of the colors and styles to go with the house.

Back splash

This picture is a bit blury. If you look closely you can see the tile pattern the tile guy used for the back splash.

The bathroom

Well, you have seen all the changes that have been made thus far. We painted every nook and cranny in the house. The cabinets in both bathrooms and the utility room have been painted white. All the doors have been painted white. Every base board and all the crown molding has been painted. The folding doors in the baby's room and the hallway were replaced with regular double doors. We did not want the little one smashing his/her fingers int he many folds of the folding doors.

Living Room

What do you think? Ceilings and walls with a fresh new coat of paint. We can't wait to get the tile installed for the finishing touches.

Oh no, don't fret...

Please don't be nervous. I know the butcher block counter tops still exist. But, there is more to come. Notice that the walls have been painted and as hard as it may be, look closely to the wall and enjoy the beautiful stucco design Rob placed on the walls with his own hands. What do you think? P.S. the cabinets in behind us are still brown. They look great with the new counter tops.

Ta-Da! Dining room with a chair rail

If you look closely, you can see that the walls have been painted. That old wall color has been changed to a nice beige something or another (Rob's touch). A chair rail has been added and the base boards and crown molding have been painted a nice fresh coat of white.

That's all folks!

So, that is our house. Please stay tuned for the many updates to come. For the record, we are supposedly moving in sometime in mid-November. UH HUH! It sure looks like doesn't it?

Are you kidding me?

This is not a joke folks. This is our bathroom. It is missing a tub. The colors have followed us into this room as well. The wallpaper clings to the walls with every strand of their 30 something years of decorating these walls. Fortunately, the strong Haley was able to remove the awful paper with much effort and some help from a steamer. I think I lost the five pounds I gained in my first trimester.

Sunlight meets sleepy eyes!

Rob's sleepy eyes that is. I love windows and early mornings. This window is the highlight of the house. I just wish there were more of these throughout the house.

Whoa! the master

Ok, whoever picked this color should be hung.
don't necessarily want to feel like we are babies in our very own nursery so we are also going to paint this room a much better color. Other than the wall color, I really like the room. It is not too big and not too small. There is a really big window on the other wall.

BABY'S ROOM!

This is the baby's room. We love it just the way it is......just kidding. This is one of the most hideous rooms in the house. The colors are pukey and the wallpaper is trecherous. We spent at least 2 hours peeling wallpaper like sun-burned skin. I HATE WALLPAPER! We are not going to get gaga about painting the room pink or blue when we find out the sex of the baby. We want to keep the room simple and neat.

Guest bedroom

This pic does not do this room justice. The room is very bright without the dreary shades. We do not plan on placing shades all over the house. There are 3 windows in this room and a nice big closet for storing all of our junk.

A nice view of the fireplace

This is a gas fire place.
The doors on either side lead the the entryway. Rob really likes the feel of the fireplace and the entryway as it makes him feel at home (the pub). Also, the inside of the house is not visible to the front yard as the windows in the entryway are positioned so that the inside is private. This room is going to be challenging to situate furniture in such a way so that the fireplace and place of entertainment are both the focal points of the room. Any suggestions......

living room

You can see the breakfast area through that doorway in the corner of the living room. To the left is the fireplace. The mantle is antique and adds a nice touch. The carpet has been ripped by my one and only, Robert. This is pretty much it for the living room. The walls are going to be sanded and painted. We don't like how the paneling makes the room dreary. We hope we are making a good judgement by painting the walls. We don't know much about paneling.

The spacious kitchen

This is the spacious kitchen. You can see how the dining room attacthes to it. Behind me (taking the picture) is the entry into the laundry room. To the right is the breakfast area with a nice bay window. The cabinets are staying the same. The wallpaper, butcher block counter tops, and lanoleum flooring is going! We haven't decided on the types of counters. Given the fact that our budget is small, we may go with a high definition lanoleum counter top.

Dining room

This is the dining room. This room is to the left side of the entryway when you walk into the house. It is pretty small. It will hold a table and a hutch comfortably. Gotta love the peach walls. Don't worry we are changing the color of the walls. Rob and I really like the fact that this room has 3 windows. Our tile guy is going to make a pattern with the tile that outlines the table (that is, our future table).

Entry hallway

If you can crane your neck to see this picture, this is the entry hallway. We really like the tile and are not going to do anything to this portion of the house. On the other side of this brick wall is the fireplace.

Our home

Don't let this picture fool you. The house is disheveled on the inside.

Room by Room

Please follow us through this long and grueling process. We are very excited about moving into our new home and are thankful we have the mastermind of home building at hand. Robert has worked for a home builder for about two years so he knows the ins and outs of building/remodeling a home AND who to call to get the dirty work done. Here are the before pictures.
